In this insightful book Tina Monberg explains that if disagreements within a company are dealt with using a conflict concept, they can be hugely beneficial to the organisation. Conflict should be embraced rather than swept under the carpet. Tina Monberg goes further to say "...disagreement provides possibilities for seeing things differently, and if the parties are able to maintain collaboration within the conflict field they will have achieved knowledge sharing and innovation".
This book explains that we all have different viewpoints of the same situation which is why conflict arises but by sharing these viewpoints positive changes and greater learning can be brought about. Many firms haven’t yet wised up to this concept and decide to deal with conflicts when it’s too late, often at a time when the destructive effect has already taken hold on the company like a disease that’s out of control. Organisations need to look out for the early warning signs and then work positively with the conflict in order to prevent situations such as costly law suits, unmotivated employees and increased sick leave.
This book provides practical models that can be customised to suit the needs of any company so a conflict concept system can be easily implemented and which enables everyone within the organisation to become involved in working with conflict. This is a practical guide written in a straight-forward style that will inspire managers to introduce their own conflict strategy.
